Gemma Stevens

Gemma has had an interest in all creatures for as long as she can remember, growing up with cats, dogs, rabbits, hamsters, chinchillas and once even an African pygmy hedgehog named Colin. She is the person everyone in her family relies on to rescue the mice when her naughty cats invite them inside.

Gemma has previously worked for the NHS and has qualifications in Art & Design. She joined Animates in September 2022 after deciding it was finally time to pursue a career working with animals, something she has always dreamed of doing. She hopes to study veterinary nursing and is particularly interested in learning more about and caring for exotic animals.

Outside of work she enjoys going for long walks in the woods with her partner, watching crime documentaries and reading books about the mind. Nothing makes her happier than seeing her rescue cat Elma waiting for her in the window when she gets home.
