Animates is a companion animal practice that was established in 2005. We aim to provide an excellent service for you and your pet in a caring and friendly atmosphere.

COVID-19 NOTICE

As it has been announced that the whole of the UK is entering the next phase of its response to Coronavirus, we will be following Government and RCVS guidelines in order to keep our staff and clients safe and healthy while ensuring that we continue to provide our patients with the care that they need.

We still want to be here for you when you need us the most so have rearranged our opening hours to be available in Thurlby 9am to 6pm Monday to Saturday. A smaller team will be providing this service and will be available to see urgent and emergency appointments. We are temporarily closing the Market Deeping practice to enable us to provide the best care we can with our reduced team. We will continue to provide our 24 hours service with the night nurse and on call vet at Thurlby outside our opening hours.

Until the government restrictions are lifted we will not be seeing appointments for routine consultations or operations, e.g. 6 month health checks, parasite prevention consultations or weight clinics. If your pet is due any treatment, assessment or vaccination please phone and speak to one of our team who will provide the appropriate guidance.

When you phone we will discuss the best option for you. This may be to postpone, conduct a video/telephone consultation (charges apply) or you may still need to visit the practice. If you have any clinical signs of coronavirus or have been in contact with anyone with clinical signs you must inform us of this during this initial phone call.

When you are attending the practice for an appointment, please remain in your car and phone reception to let them know that you have arrived. A member of the team will come and collect your pet from the car and take them to the practice for examination and treatment. The vet will be able to update you over the phone. Please bring a mobile phone with you and ensure we have the correct phone number for you when booking your appointment.

We are still able to process orders for repeat medication, parasite prevention and food. As we are operating with reduced staff numbers we would appreciate you e-mailing emma@animates.org.uk help to reduce the number of phone calls to ensure that people with unwell animals can contact us as easily. Please give us as much notice as possible for any orders because our deliveries are less frequent.

Payments can be made over the phone by card.

We hope you understand why these measures have been necessary and we hope to be back to normal service as soon as it becomes safe to do so.

If you have any questions about our service at this time please email our Client Experience Manager – Kirsty Smith (kirsty@animates.org.uk). If you have any urgent queries or your pet needs to be seen by a vet please phone the practice on 01778 420462.

Welcome to Animates Veterinary Clinic

Animates is a companion animal practice that was established in 2005. We aim to provide an excellent service for you and your pet in a caring and friendly atmosphere.

Because we understand every person is different with varying needs, beliefs and values, and that each pet has its own requirements, we always provide the options available to allow you to make a decision that suits you and your pet.

We have a fantastic team of highly trained and committed individuals who care about doing the best job for you and your pet. We all work together to ensure that each aspect of your visit is smooth, efficient and hassle free.

The practice is fully equipped with excellent facilities which include ‘in-house’ blood analysis, digital x-ray and digital dental x-ray, dental equipment, ultrasound, endoscopy, ECG, blood pressure monitoring, therapeutic laser and excellent theatre facilities. We provide separate waiting areas and hospital wards for cats, dogs and exotics to minimise stress. We have isolation facilities and provide 24 hour nursing to improve the care your pet will receive while here with us.

We also operate our own emergency out of hours service based at our Thurlby practice, run by Animates’ own staff. We are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year because we are committed to being here when you need us the most.

Practice Standards Scheme

Animates has been an RCVS accredited practice since 2009.  We are accredited under “General Practice Small Animal”.  Through setting standards and carrying out regular inspections, the scheme aims to promote and maintain the highest standards of veterinary care. In 2016 the RCVS launched additional optional awards which provide greater differentiation between accredited practices and recognise excellence. Animates was the first practice in Lincolnshire and the third in the UK to achieve outstanding in the 5 categories we are eligible for. The categories are team and professional responsibility; in-patient care; client service; out-patient consultation and diagnostics. This means that you can be assured that you are receiving the best possible service from a competent and caring team in a fully equipped and professional practice environment.

More about RCVS practice standards

Animates has been an RCVS accredited practice since 2009 under the category “General Practice Small Animal”. The RCVS Practice Standards Scheme (PSS) is a voluntary initiative to accredit veterinary practices in the UK. Through setting standards and carrying out regular assessments, the Scheme aims to promote and maintain the highest standards of veterinary care. It offers peace of mind to clients of accredited practices and a more informed choice to the animal-owning public.

To become accredited, practices volunteer for rigorous assessment every four years and will have met a range of minimum standards. These include having certain equipment and suitably qualified staff, maintaining set hygiene standards, having appropriate staff training and providing 24-hour emergency cover (at Animates this is provided by our own staff at our Thurlby practice, other practices may use alternative out of hours providers).

Practice Standards Awards

In 2016 the RCVS launched additional optional “awards” which provide greater differentiation between accredited practices and recognise excellence. The assessment for these awards is even more meticulous. An assessor visited Animates for several days looking at every area within the practice. They checked we had policies and procedures written and in use, and talked in depth to team members about what they do. They assessed if we achieved the required level of care and service that warrants being an award holder in each category. Awards can be rated either 'good' or 'outstanding'. Animates was the first practice in Lincolnshire and the third in the UK to achieve outstanding in all the 5 categories we are eligible for.

The categories are:

  • Team and professional responsibility
  • In-patient care
  • Client service
  • Out-patient consultation
  • Diagnostics.

This means that you can be assured that you are receiving the best possible service from a competent and caring team in a fully equipped and professional practice environment.
